We had a fantastic time of fellowship, encouragement, and community at the GLOW Uganda Women's Revival Conference at the end of November 2021.
The conference included time of spiritual renewal, as well as medical and dental clinics for the ladies. There were games, dramas, and of course, a lot of singing and dancing!
GLOW also hosted a Leader's Retreat in January 2022. The equipping of the group leaders is so important as their creativity, motivation, and energy set the tone for the group. We discussed managing group dynamics, good leadership characteristics, and business planning and growth. We were so encouraged by their enthusiasm! GLOW Uganda held a revival conference starting 26th to 28th November 2021 at Kigezi High School
in Kabale District. Our theme was taken from Luke 10: 41 “Martha, Martha,” the Lord
answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, 42 but few things are
needed—or indeed only one.[a] Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be
taken away from her.”
The conference was attended by 260 participants. Of which 240 were women from the 8 GLOW
groups from Kabale and Rubanda districts and 20 girls from the GLOW skills center.
The Conference was centered on Discipleship, Mentorship and Health Promotion. We are glad to
report to you that the conference was a success by the grace of God but also because of your
generous and committed support. We thank you and pray that God will bless you.
Health Screening & Treatment
Screening and Oral Health Promotion
We had Health Talk by Dr. Gilbert Mateka who
emphasized the relationship between stress and
lifestyle disease and also shared tips on how to
manage stress, top on the list being the one
thing that Mary had chosen. After the talks a
team from Rugarama hospital lead by Dr
Mateeka set up a clinic where members
consulted about the different health challenges
they were facing. Members also had their blood
pressure and random blood sugar checked and
those who were found sick were referred to
Rugarama hospital
58 clients had their BP Checked, 13 were
referred to Rugarama hospital for treatment
while 10 needed monitoring
53 ladies had their random blood sugar tested,
10 were referred to Rugarama hospital for
treatment while 5 needed monitoring
Dental Screening & Treatment
Dr Brian Rushaju of RUN Dental also shared
oral hygiene tips and illustrated how to brush
right without hurting your gum. 120 women
were screened, 95 treated and 75 referred for
secondary treatment, only 25 of the 120 did not
have dental problems
DISCIPLESHIP & MENTORSHIP
Through, Teaching, drama, and Music the
message of the encouragement and mentorship
was passed on to the partcipants.
The Girls (who train at the GLOW skills center
lead us through a thunderous Praise & Worship,
I could see freedom and liberation as the women
danced and sang praises to God. Rev Jasper
Tumuhimbise took us through another Theme
Exposition & prayer response after his teaching,
more women came to the Lord in surrender
choosing the one thing Mary had chosen.
Our next topic was WHO AM I and
Mrs. Enid Origumisiriza lead us through this
topic, helping members to understand who God
says they are and sharing her testimony of Gods
power, love and faithfulness to her as a young
widow who lost her husband to HIV, but the
Lord spared her and helped her raise her
daughters who are all now well married off and
successful. Glow supports over 60 widows, this
testimony and teaching on believing who God
says we are stirred up the women to believe that
if they chose him they can do all things through
Christ.
Prayer and Deliverance
Two prayer and deliverance sessions were held
on Saturday night and Sunday morning.
Rev Augustus Ainebyoona led the participants
through a prayer and deliverance sessions , we
witnessed the power of God delivering and
healing the oppressed, broken, bitter, wounded ,
the faithless and hopeless as well as the Holy
Spirit filling and baptizing some of them .
On Sunday 28th Rev. Ainebyoona shared on the
topic WHY AM HERE? Why am I here while
Rev Jasper closed and commissioned the
women to go out and use their spiritual gifts to
serve the Lord by serving others.
We then invited members to share testimonies.
They were amazing. We have detailed accounts
of some of the testimonies which will be written
in our end of year newsletter.
